Still Waters

Still Waters

““He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.” Psalm 23:2.

The Church– the body of born-again believers, have great assurance in the sovereignty and omnipotence of God. We can stand still and trust Him in all things. The 46th Psalms gives us a comforting message of God’s amazing grece and care; it reminds us that God is our refuge and strength a very present help in trouble. God is faithful and we can, at this very moment, wherever we are on this journey of life and be still, trusting in His divine purpose, protection and provision forever.

The tenth verse of Psalm 46 provides the account of the Lord giving a direct command to the Israelites in the face of fear and imminent danger “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10. Stillness is the absence of movement, action, or motion; this immediately takes my thoughts to the still waters that David used in Psalm 23:2 as an analogy for were the Lord leads His sheep He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.”

God knows where to lead us my friends, the waters of life can be ever so choppy and rough, appearing unsafe, and containing dangerous predators lying undertow (the enemy of our souls); but He lovingly leads us beside the still waters, where there are no obstructions, friction or turbulence; providing a safe environment to rest, drink, and trust in His divine care! Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6.

Is God commanding you to be still today? Stop, listen, and obey; we can rest in the assurance of His sovereignty, and love; knowing that regardless of the threat or unrest to our souls; the One who calms the raging seas, that Great Shepherd of the sheep… has us safe in His everlasting arms!

Wherever you are on this journey of life…Be still and know that God is leading the way!
