The LORD is thy Keeper

The LORD is thy Keeper

“The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.”

Psalm 121 is a collection of Psalms known as the “Songs of Ascent” written by King David, who was expressing his trust in God’s guidance and protection, by acknowledging the One true and living God who always watched over him. “The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.” Psalm 121:5.

Likewise, the children of Israel would sing Psalm 121 as they ascended up the hills to Jerusalem to the temple…it was there that they gave God praise and honor for God’s divine protection and care once a year. My friends, not only is God still the guardian of Israel, but He is the one who watches over all His beloved children! “l lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:1-2.

I am not sure about you…but I am glad about that this morning; God is the watchmen and keeper of my soul. The familiar hymn brings comfort and strength to my heart; “Through many dangers, toils and snares,I have already come; ’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, And grace will lead me home!”

I will never let a rock cry out in my place…to give praise and honor to God-He is my protection, keeper, may all and all. Twenty-seven years ago on October 21, 1996, around 5 a.m., the surgeon walked into my hospital room at UF Shands in Gainesville, Florida. He said, Ms. Ward, we’re about to take you to surgery, I need you to know that if the kidney is not almost an exact match, we will come out of there without doing the surgery…tell me is there anything to hard for God to do?!

Oh my Lord….I am evident that Almighty God is a keeper- I am still living with that same transplanted kidney today, and some may suffice to say,-well you can at least live with one kidney= but the chips were down and both of my kidneys were damaged and not functioning…but God’s amazing grace provided all that I needed in one transplanted kidney; because He is the One that keepeth me- and I stand to tell the world that He is sweet I know!  “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Jeremiah 29:11.

Again I ask you – is there anything too hard for God to do-what do you need that seems insurmountable- do the physicians question a cure, the interviews keep saying no, is your cupboard bear, and all the bills may be due- children, or spouse gone wayward—keep looking up towards the hills from whence cometh our help…because God is a Keeper of those who faithfully trust in Him-He will provide!

God blessings, peace, and amazing grace be with you all!
