The Need for Spiritual Healing

The Need for Spiritual Healing

“When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” Mark 2:17.

Sickness is a part of the constraints of this temporal body that we live in. God graciously provides healing for our physical bodies; He promote healing according to His will through doctors, medications, and other physical and mental aides. However, the spiritual body is born sick in sin and can only be healed through repentance and recognizing that we are sinners that need forgiveness of our sins through Jesus Christ our Lord “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9.

In the book of Mark chapter two, we find the account of Jesus at the home of one called Levi, a publican or tax collector; these individuals were look down upon and where not held in high esteem by the Scribes and Pharisees; for Jesus to be eating and conversing with publicans and sinners was an offense to the religious sect. But Jesus knew that they were desiring to cast a negative light on His ministry, and He pointed let them know that He came to heal those who were spiritually sick. “When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” Mark 2:17.

Those opposed to Jesus were spiritually blind themselves or they would have understood His mission to save the loss; but selfish pride and pious indignation coveted their hearts. . . they are great examples of the Church in Laodicea that Christ condemned for their works in Revelations 3:16-17 “So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:” They walked in their own righteousness, thinking they had it all, but in reality, they were sick in sin and in need of the Great Physician to heal their souls!

What side are you on today? “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23. This physical body that we live in will one day shed mortality and take on immortality…how will you give an account? Do not allow the enemy of our souls to blind you into thinking that you have it all in this world; there is no middle ground, Jesus is the only way to an abundant and eternal life.

If you are not saved by the precious blood of the lamb, He is calling for you to be spiritually healed. “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20.

God blessings of peace and abundant grace be with us all.
