The Trust Fall

The Trust Fall

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

As a trainer for DCPS for many years, I can recall utilizing several ice breakers that established the idea of trusting in the team. One such activity was entitled the trust fall, in this activity, a team member was made to stand on the edge of a raised platform of about 5-6 feet high. His or her hands were tied behind their backs, and they were blind folded. Then, the person had to literally fall on his/her back in the arms of the teammates who were standing down facing each other, with arms extended towards the person standing opposite him or her. In other words, a bed of arms was made, on which their teammate needed to fall. While falling, the person would say, “I trust you guys, please take care of me.”

It is not an easy thing to wholeheartedly place our trust in others. The relationship must be what I call tried, proven and true! We automatically trust in those who have raised us and provided for us all our lives. However, it takes time and experience to release our trust to others outside of that intimate circle of influence… our Church has a youth group call the J-Dets, the motto for the group is …In God we trust, all others we check!

God has created us in His likeness; He has lovingly provided a team to take care of our past, present, and future in the personages of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. They are all tried, proven and true; scripture admonishes us in Proverbs 3:5-6 to “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6.

Every born-again believer has established their trust is in the Lord, not just anyone, but the One who loves us unconditionally and who gave His very life for us… His amazing grace has secured our inheritance in heaven. He is faithful and true, and His promises never fail. Therefore, we can wholeheartedly follow wherever He leads, trusting in His wisdom, resting in His loving protection and peace.

The Word of God admonishes us in 1 Peter 5:7 “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”  Let us take that trust fall today into the everlasting arms…He will take care of us from now throughout eternity “As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.” 2 Samuel 22:31.

God blessings and protection keep us all.
