Wait on the Lord

Wait on the Lord

“Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.” Psalm 27:14.

As we walk through life’s challenges, our greatest assurance is trusting God. Let us fix our hearts on waiting on the Lord in faith and prayer, knowing He alone grants the strength and peace we need. For those who love the Lord and resolve to obey Him, He is worthy of all our trust in every situation. The scripture reminds us that we walk by faith, not by sight. It is our Great and Almighty God who orders the steps of His dear children and grants us perseverance. “Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.” Psalm 27:14.

We are definitely living in tough times; the things we see and hear on a daily basis often present a dismal picture, the way ahead appears unclear, and we have no earthly idea when things will change. Where is our hope and peace? Franklin D. Roosevelt wrote these words, “When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on.”  Hang on, waiting for what? For every child of God, our wait is on the Lord. . .  He did not promise us clarity in every situation we encounter, but He did promise to love, protect, provide, strengthen, and be with us always; and praise God, He is faithful and true to every promise. God never fails!

Even though the road may seem rough, God will faithfully provide all the strength that we need. The Apostle Paul reminds us: “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9. His power and strength exceed all we can humanly comprehend. He will spiritually pick us up from the lowest place and allow us to soar on the wings of eagles, high above the storms of life.

God’s amazing grace gives us the wonderful and comforting privilege of prayer. We can run to the foot of the cross to gain courage and strength to hold on. “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16. We stand the tallest when we humbly bow before God. He desires that we bring all our cares and concerns to Him. “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 1 Peter 5:6-7. Do you believe that there is absolutely nothing impossible with God? Then whatever you’re encountering today will soon pass. Wait on God!

Let us pray that God will strengthen us as we hold fast to His unchanging hand-He is intentional, and even the detours we experience in life serve our destiny! “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.” Jude 24-25.

God’s grace and mercy give us strength and peace always!
