“The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.” Proverbs 15:3.

Coram Deo is a Latin phrase found in the Vulgate- the Latin version of the bible adopted by the Roman Catholic Church; it means “before the face of God” or “in the presence of God.” One theologian wrote “To live Coram Deo is to live one’s entire life in the presence of God, under the authority of God, to the glory of God.” God is omnipresent and is always with us; whatever we are doing and wherever we are doing it, we are acting under the penetrating gaze of God. “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.” Proverbs 15:3.

Every born-again believer is indwelt with the Holy Spirit who empowers us to see through spiritual eyes of understanding. However, we all make choices in life… will we either choose to be obedient to the leading that the Holy Spirit gives or not. “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” John 14:26.

God so graciously shadows us under His protective wings of love… and what is our response to His loving-kindness- is it total obedience and love or a half-hearted thank you Lord? We must watch-out for departmentalizing our lives, walking one way spiritually and another way that conforms to this world.  Jesus’ message to the seven Churches in Revelations 3:15-16 states: “And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.”

What does our walk look like to others and most importantly to God? We must never comprise our convictions in God’s truth. Instead, let us examine ourselves in every decision and every thought, seeking to be in alignment with the divine will of God. Ninety-nine and a half just won’t do-we must be totally committed to the will and way of our Savior!

He knows, He watches, and He listens to our heartfelt cries…Tasha Cobbs sings a beautiful song that it entitled “Give me Doves Eyes.” It is a desire to be totally devoted to God-making Him our hearts desire-the center of our focus… are we willing to forsake all that this world offers to be sold out to God? God help us to proclaim as the Psalmist writes: “As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.” Psalm 42:1.  Let us humbly give ourselves away for the glory of Almighty God- Coram Deo, yearning to hear His word and follow where He faithfully leads.
