Walking in Power or Pity?

Walking in Power or Pity?

“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” Psalm 16:11.

Someone once said, “Getting old is not for the fragile-minded!” Their mindset focused on the aches and pains that ageing, regardless of fitness, can bring. Some, unfortunately, slip into despair when facing debilitating illness, or simply the reality of how age changes our once youthful minds and bodies. But those who know and walk with the Lord can hold to the comfort and knowledge that in His presence is fullness of joy “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” Psalm 16:11.

A defeatist attitude is an attack from the enemy of our souls … he desires to make us fret and forget how truly blessed we are; it may not feel like it at times, but age and difficult circumstances usher in an appreciation for life.

Wisdom, grace and unspeakable joy that comes from the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, sheds light, understanding and thanksgiving, even in the toughest of times! “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23.

If by chance you have fallen on the wayside of life momentarily- just a slight change in perspective can get any wayward mind back on track, remember the adage “I complained about not having any shoes, until I saw the man that had no feet.” The point is, there are millions of people who wish they were in your shoes at this very moment! “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.” Proverbs 17:22.

We can choose pitifulness or power. Each day is a blessing from Almighty God. Ageing is a privilege not granted to many. God’s amazing grace sustains us. “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9.

It is a wonderful feeling to know, whether we have reached twenty-six or ninety-six, that we are cared for, provided for, and given the strength to run our race by the One who has all power and will never leave us nor forsake us! “And lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” Matthew 28:20b.

God’s amazing grace has allowed us to see one more day and to know that He will provide all the grace we need to face every situation, whether it be physical, spiritual, mental, or financial…God’s got this, and He is always working behind the scenes. He has great plans for all of His beloved children… our daily prayer should be as the scripture states “Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.” Psalm 119:133.

Are you willing to let go and let God keep you in perfect peace? To do so, give God the glory in all things and live today in His power, seeking to be a light to others. Remember, everyone is facing something—the difference is the One who holds us in His everlasting arms; when Jesus is the rock of our salvation, our guiding light, and hope for tomorrow, we can rest in His promises. “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31.

Blessings for a wonderful day. Choose to walk in power, not pity—God’s grace is always sufficient!
