We Can Depend on God!

We Can Depend on God!

“My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.” Psalm 73:26.

Let me ask you: have you ever faced a challenge you couldn’t overcome, or a task where God didn’t give you the knowledge, wisdom, or strength you needed? For me, the answer is a definite ‘absolutely not!’

I want to remind you today that there is no failure in God. We can always rely on His faithfulness and goodness! “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23.

Difficult circumstances in life can throw us a curveball or present things that seem beyond our ability. But praise be to God, no matter what we face or what task we are given, His amazing grace gives us the strength we need day by day!

Every born-again believer has experienced God’s unfailing love, starting with salvation. This should bring joy to our hearts and hope for tomorrow. Scripture gives these words of comfort to the weary and wounded soul: “In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.” 1 John 4:9.

Praise God, we also have a great cloud of witnesses, or various Old Testament prophets and faithful saints who have gone on before us, whose lives testify to what God can do. Take a moment to think about it: they went through things we can hardly imagine. Hebrews 11:37 says, “They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;” Yet through God’s power, they were victorious in all these things.

Here are just a few names of those faithful witnesses: I hope they will encourage you!

Gideon was called a mighty man of valor, and by God’s power, he led just three hundred men to deliver the Israelites from the Midianites. Judges 7:7 says, “And the LORD said unto Gideon, by the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place.”

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were the three Hebrew boys who withstood a fiery furnace and walked out unharmed “Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king. He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.” Daniel 3:24-25.

And above all, Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is the ultimate example…He raised the dead to life and performed innumerable miracles that manifested the glory of God and He got up early on the third day morning with all power in His hands to which every born-again believer is a witness. “And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted. And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.” Mark 16:5-6. Praise God, because He lives, we can face every tomorrow!

So let us be of good cheer, knowing that whatever our lot or task may be today, we can wholeheartedly cast all our cares on the Lord; for truly we can depend on God! “My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.” Psalm 73:26.

Blessings, peace, and strength for the journey ahead!
