When God Commands

When God Commands

“Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.” 1 Kings 17:9.

When God is involved, He has already prepared the way. The prophet Elijah, prophesied against the wicked king Ahab, foretelling of a drought that would hit the land. God directed the prophet to go to a place called Cherith where He commanded the ravens to feed him, “And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.” 1 Kings 17:4.

However, when the brook dried up, God sent him to a place called Zarephath where he founnd a widow woman God commanded to meet his needs. “Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.” 1 Kings 17:9.

God has the final authority in all things; when He speaks everything must obey His will. In the account of Elijah being sustained during the drought, nowhere do we read that God asked the ravens or the widow woman to sustain the prophet…the word of God state “I have commanded” a statement that denotes the power and authority to give and order. God ordered, they obeyed. Psalm 24:1 state “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.”

What has God commanded in your life today? God is not a man that He should lie; if He said it, it is already done. We must have the faith to believe that He will always provide and take care of us. “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6.

Are you caught in a devastating circumstance and cannot see your way out? Just take note of the disciples on the sea of Galilee, “And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” Mark 4:38-39. And what was their response? ”And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?” Mark 4:41.

This same Jesus, who commanded the sea of Galilee, the ravens, and the widow woman over two thousand years ago, still commands the circumstances in our lives! There is power in the name of Jesus…when He speaks heaven and earth moves; trust Him to provide for all that you need…the way has already been prepared; rest in His goodness and mercy…He will come through!

God blessings of grace and love be with us all.
