Whose Got the Power?

Whose Got the Power?

“For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.” Romans 9:17.

The underdog, everyone knows are the individuals that are thought of as the ones least likely to achieve or attain the prize or some form of notoriety. Exactly why is that- because they do not follow the norms of society; they walk to the tune of a different drummer; and simply put, those in the limelight or so self-absorbed, believing that they have the power…but whose really got the power?

Most of those in higher positions of authority are easily influenced and seduced by the desire for more power. The proverbial saying ‘power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely’ conveys the opinion that, as a person’s power increases, their moral sense diminishes. They quickly lose sight that the power belongs to God alone!

Our archenemy, that old serpent, Satan, lures and entices the mind with the false promises of abundant prestige, power, property, money…things that the bible warns us can be ill-used and are associated with the world “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” 1 John 2:16.

Pharoah, assumed he had all the power too; the Egyptian leadership had held God’s people in bondage for over four-hundred years. But he was in for a rude awakening…the Lord sent him a message through Moses to let His people go “For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.” Romans 9:17.

The scripture state “I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee…” Pharoah had no power, God the Creator of the world, who said let us make man…created Pharoah for that specific purpose… he had no choice, and he did…let God’s people go. God alone received the glory then, as He does now!

The enemy of our souls may have someone thinking today, that they are down and out for the count, but the only power that he has…comes from God and He shows mercy on who He will! “So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.” Somebody ought to be shouting hallelujah about that this morning! God is working behind the scenes; He is working things out for our good and His glory.

So, whose got the power? The Lord, God Almighty, He is the King of Kings and the only potentate, He alone sits on the throne and reigns forever, “And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.” Revelations 19:6. Glory be to God…our Father has all power in heaven and in earth!

Blessings and peace, let us walk in the knowledge that God’s power will keep, sustain, and provide for us always.
