Winning the Fight!
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;” 2 Corinthians 10:4.
I love watching a good wrestling or boxing match. When we were kids, my brother Reginald and I would watch wrestling every Saturday morning. Jack and Jerry Briscoe were our favorite tag team because they always seemed to win. During the matches, one of them would get in trouble and almost lose, but somehow, they would manage to tag each other and switch places. That move always gave them the edge to win.
We are in a spiritual fight every day of our lives against Satan and his demonic forces. But every born-again believer has weapons that supersede anything in this world; our weapons come from God alone. “(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 2 Corinthians 10:4.
Anyone who knows about fighting understands that a fighter has to train. It takes daily effort—physically and mentally—through exercise, diet, endurance, and positive habits. In the same way, we need to prepare for spiritual battles. The apostle Paul tells us in Ephesians 6:10-11: “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”
What does your daily regimen look like? Are you prepared to win the fight? 1 Peter 5:8 state, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” Yes, he may be quite a formidable foe, but the good news is we have the victory in Jesus, “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” Romans 8:32.
Satan’s objective is to make us feel as though we are down for the count and defeated, but our big brother, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, succors us in our weakest moments, and He wins the fight. Let us stay watchful, in the word and prayed up… ready to tag out at any given moment, for nothing shall ever separate us from His love and protective care!
“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39.
May God bless us all with grace and strength.
