“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139: 23-24.

How often do you pour your heart out before the Lord, seeking guidance, peace and comfort-I am not sure about you, but it is my daily prayer for His wisdom, grace and unfailing love to lead me in the right direction; especially when the way seems overcast, and I have absolutely no idea which way to go. The good news is that God is the One who searches our hearts, and He will faithfully provided all that we need. “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139: 23-24.

My friends…those tough times teach us how to faithfully open our hearts up to God; when we kneel consistently before Him in prayer, seeking to get things in our lives right, it is in those very moments that we receive the grace and strength to pass any test that comes our way. Psalm 25:5 state “Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.” Psalm 25:5.

King David was not a perfect or sinless man, but the scripture tells us He was a man after God’s on heart. “And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave their testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.” Acts 13:22. David’s life was characterized as one who truly loved the Lord with his whole heart, he was obedient and not rebellious, he sinned but showed true repentance; he sought the Lord with all His heart, desiring to do His will; the question for us my friends… can the same character be found in us?

Let us humbly seek the Lord with our whole heart…ready and willing to follow where He leads. Consider how David gets right down and personal… as he states in Psalm 23:1, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”  He was expressing that he had an intimate relationship with the Lord, God Jehovah…Our Father, who provides, protects, and gives us all that we need!

Every born-again believer can proclaim that The Lord is my shepherd; We can call on Him morning, noon or night, praise God as the old gospel hymn goes, He’ll be there! Whatever you may be seeking guidance and clarity for today… simply open your heart up to God and trust Him to lead the way. Proverbs 3:5-6 gives these comforting words of guidance “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
