Finding True Peace
“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7
There are many things that steal our peace and soundness of mind when we succumb to unfavorable circumstances. But where can we find true peace? It certainly does not come from worldly comforts that we can so easily find; these things are only temporary, leaving us at best still lacking the peace that we so vehemently search for. However, the bible gives us the answer in Philippians 4:7: “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” My friends, true peace can only be found in God.
Life is full of ups and downs; there is always sunshine and rain. We are either going through something, coming out of something, or headed right back into something! Yet, this should not dismay the child of God; scripture reminds us that: “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.” 2 Corinthians 4: 8-10.
My friends, our lives are lovingly orchestrated by God’s omniscience, and every circumstance grows us into what God intends for us to be. So, when things get really tough and threaten to steal your peace, as they certainly will, humbly take it to the Lord in prayer. Stand still and watch God work things out!
No matter how dark the night…God’s great joy comes early in the morning-He hears the cries of His children. “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” 1 John 5:14-15.
Praise God that the prayer of faith opens the floodgates of Heaven! He will give us the comfort and peace that we need to run this race with patience, empowering us with all the strength, joy, and grace needed to tie a proverbial knot at the end of the rope, allowing us to hang in there just a little while longer- yes…He is always faithful and will come through! right on time “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,” Jude 1:24.
God’s blessing of peace and amazing grace be with us all!
