Just One Touch!

Just One Touch!

“And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.” Luke 8:46

We find real Joy in truly knowing our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and the power of His resurrection. His comfort and peace bring hope and assurance when life, at its best, is chaotic. During those times, we can lay down the heavy burdens of our hearts, trusting that our all-powerful and all-knowing God will lovingly take care of us. He promises: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28.

Our bodies are temporary, and we all face sickness, weakness, and even death.  But we find comfort and peace in the word of the Lord and His power to heal and deliver. “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.” Psalm 34:19.

The story of the woman with the issue of blood in Luke chapter eight shows how those who truly seek Jesus in faith can be healed according to His divine will. Luke 8:46-48 says: “And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.  And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.”

Imagine the crowd as they all pressed towards Jesus, and this frail, weak woman comes near, just knowing that if she could just touch the hem of His garment, she would be made whole! At that very moment, second in time, she didn’t need an extended conversation with the Lord, or even for Him to see her… she simply needed one touch from the hem of His garment!

My Lord, what a great testimony to her faith in God; do we exhibit that kind of fervent faith today? If we seek Him, we will find Him. No one else can heal, keep, and deliver us like Jesus.  Just one touch of His garment is able to release His healing power physically, mentally, and above all to heal our sin-sick souls. The old gospel hymn states it like this…He touched me, and now I am no longer the same. Praise be to God!

The virtue that flows from Jesus exceeds anything we can imagine- in fact, it is all-powerful. Ephesians 3:20 says, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.”

What is it that weighs heavily on your heart today? family, job, unforeseen debilitating illnesses, finances, and even the fear and anxiety of catastrophic occurrences? Draw near and call on Jesus; one touch of His garment will bring all the healing, peace, and sustaining power that you need. “I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” Psalm 34:4.

My friends, the healing, peace, and deliverance that God provides go far beyond the physical and reach into the spiritual realm, where there is no end!  “He Touched Me” is a familiar gospel song, that comforts the soul:

He touched me, O, He touched me,

And O, the joy that floods my soul.

Something happened, and now I know,

He touched me and made me whole.

Jesus has the power to break every chain- run to the foot of the cross and receive His healing touch!
