What Can I Do?
“And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.” Psalms 50:15.
We all encounter circumstances that outright boggle the mind. A feeling of total helplessness…those times when you fall to your face and cry out… Lord, what can I do…how do I alleviate this situation- and deep down in the soul, you know, at that very instance, that you can only go so far. As humans, we’re limited to time, space, and power; therefore, our hope is anchored in the faithful sovereignty of Almighty God! “Hast thou not known? Hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.” Isaiah 40:28.
In those trying moments, we’re quickly reminded that God is in ultimate control of all things. And no, we will not always understand the circumstances that we face, but faith and trust must be our closest companions, grounded in the One who has all power! “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” Matthew 28:18.
One of my favorite sayings is to be: “Shipwrecked on God and stranded on omnipotence!” To be shipwrecked is to have lost the ship to ruin and suddenly be stranded…no conceivable way to leave the present location- it appears that all hope is gone; but when you are shipwrecked on God, even being secluded or lost to all possible means of human support. That’s when you can humbly lie in the safety of His hands -dependent on the faithfulness of His omnipotent miraculous power to succor and sustain you through it all! “And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.” Psalms 50:15.
My friends, where you are and what’s going on in your life is certainly no surprise to God… He has placed you right there for His purposes and your good…there is no safer place to be than in the center of His will. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28.
Remember the words of the old hymn… “must Jesus bear the cross alone, and all the world go free? No…there is a cross for everyone, and there’s a cross for me!” We will face trials and tribulations in this life…but we are overcomers through the finishing work of Jesus! “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33.
Finally, I ask you…Do you truly believe that God’s omnipotence encompasses every aspect of your life? If so, then run to the foot of the cross, casting all your cares and concerns on the Lord, and trust that He is already working things out, for Psalm 34:17 assures us that ‘The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.’
God’s blessings and peace to all!
Amen, SiS, being under His divine guardianship doesn’t mean we won’t feel the heat when walking through life’s fires yet we can rest assured we are NOT alone. He pulls us through the flames as He wills and all works for our good and His glory. We can trust our Heavenly Father’s limitless love, power and wisdom. 🙌🏽🫶🏽🙏🏽
