I Look to You!

I Look to You!

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.” (Psalm 121:1-2).

There is a still place, way deep down in the soul, that the beloved child of God can run to for refuge. There is a beautiful song, “I Look to You,” sung by Whitney Houston. Its sentiments remind us that God is the source of our strength and peace when the troubles of our souls seem insurmountable. Psalm 121:1-2 states, “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.”

As God’s beloved children, we find peace in knowing that the Lord orders our steps. He orchestrates the circumstances in our lives for  His glory and our good. We faithfully cast all our cares at the foot of the cross and let the Lord lead the way.

It is easy to travel along the path of life when things are going great, but when life’s trials weigh so heavily, we must hold on to the One who is far greater than anything this world could offer; and that is when He steps in and carries us through in the toughest of times. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”  (Psalm 46:1).

God is the Comforter and Lover of our hearts in times of loss, pain, fear, and any other uncertainty. Psalm 119:105 reminds us: “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” There is absolutely nothing like the comforting peace that the word of the Lord sheds in our souls.  For every tear that falls and every heartache, He ushers in His light and the assurance that we are loved and belong to Him. “They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.”  (Psalm 34:5-6).

My friends, God’s grace is sufficient… it provides all the strength and sinew that we need to persevere through the trials and tribulations we face.  Praise God, it is His sustaining power that gives us comfort, joy, and peace to make it one day at a time. “It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.” (Psalm 18:32).

So, even if your head is hung low today, look towards the hills, from where all our help comes. There in the secret place of the Almighty, we have confidence in knowing that He is our light in the darkest hour, and He is closer than the very air that we breathe-no matter where we are, or how tough things get, we are kept safe in His presence forever!

May God’s blessings and peace be with you all!
