Are You Born Again?

Are You Born Again?

“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” John 3:5.

It is impossible to have a relationship with our Creator outside of the new birth. The Bible teaches us that “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” John 4:24.

My friends, there is no question that is more important in life than are you born-again? The new birth is a miraculous process that only God can do; and through His love, humanity has been reconciled back to Him…the enmity or sin that separates us from God was washed away by the shed blood of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ our Lord… and by His power, we are able to receive eternal life.

In the gospel of John, chapter four, we read the account of Jesus speaking to a Samaritan woman by a well. He simply asks her for a drink of water but invokes her in a conversation that opened her understanding of who He was and changed her life forever!

At first it took her by surprise because the Jews and Samaritans did not associate with one another; the Jews looked down on the Samaritans as impure in the faith; and this Jewish man, crossed all cultural and religious barriers and took the time to hold a life changing conversation with her, He began to teach her about divine things; He provided spiritual insight to her own ignorance and sinfulness and her need for salvation.

Christ asked her for water to drink but offered her far more in the living water she would receive from Him; and by this He meant the Spiritual life that only He can give. “Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.” John 4:10.

Every born-again believer receives the divine graces that come from the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, He brings comfort that satisfies our very souls; Galatians 5:22-23 state, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”

The temporal and physical things of this life can only provide short term satisfaction, but my God, when we receive the life-giving water of our Lord, we will never thirst again!

The scripture tells us that the woman dropped her pots and ran to tell the story! “The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?” John 4:28-29.

I ask you again, are you born-again- and if so, are you running to tell the story of Christ everlasting water that quenches the very soul – are you telling the world that eternal life is free, given by God and experienced through the new birth? Jesus speaking to Nicodemus about eternal life in John 3:5 state “Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”

The hope and assurance of every believer is Heaven and living eternally with our Savior; but those who are unbelievers and deny our Christ…damnation is real, and their souls will live tormented forever. “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” Revelation 21:8.

If you are unsaved, today is the day of salvation, no man knows the day or the hour that he will be called to leave this life, but at this very moment, while you are still alive, there is hope, Jesus is knocking on the door of your heart; let Him in…He desires to save you and give you everlasting life! “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” 3:20. You must be born-again!

God’s amazing grace, peace, love, and joy be with you all!
