Always On Time!

Always On Time!

“And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder.” Genesis 24:15

When I think of the element of time and the necessity of being on time; my mind goes to my great-aunt Josephine Copeland, who lived in Philadelphia, Pa. It was always a pleasure to ride the train up north every summer with my mom and siblings to visit “Snookie” as we affectionately called her. She was an RN for Germantown Hospital for as long as I can remember. Snookie was wonderful, but slow…she was late all the time; the one day that she arrived to work on time, she slipped up the stairs to the hospital and broke her legs! We all as humans have our faults, but I am so glad to tell you this morning that God is never late and always on time!

In Genesis chapter twenty-four we find the account of Abraham’s faithful servant Eliezer. Abraham sent Eliezer to seek out and find the God appointed bride for his only son Isaac. As Eliezer set out on his journey, he stopped at a well in Mesopotamia and kneeled to pray for God’s guidance and insight. He specifically asked God to show him the young damsel that would be the bride for Isaac. The scripture tells us “And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder.” Genesis 24:15. God is amazing and goes beyond our greatest imagination; before Eliezer had even finished speaking or praying …God sent the answer to his prayer!

What is on your heart today? God hears the sincere cries of His children. Jeremiah 33:3 state “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” God is faithful to His promises and His mercy endureth for ever… it does not matter how small or great we feel our need is …He can handle it.

In those times when things seem far beyond what we can humanly reach; we can depend on God to succor and hold us in His powerful hands; He knows, He cares and He is always on time- right now, while we are yet praying and seeking His guidance, will and loving protection.

So, as you begin this new day, cast all your cares at the foot of the cross…it is already done according to the will and timing of God… remember that in His will is the safest place to be…rest in the comforting words of Psalms 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

May the unconditional love of God wrap us all in the safety of His care today and always.
