Consider One Another in Love

Consider One Another in Love

“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:” -Hebrews 10:24

Most of us honestly proclaim to be selfless in our dealing with others; but, as life has it, if we aren’t careful…we can get so caught up in the daily regime of self-preservation…what I need to get by at this moment-what I need to be happy and at peace, what I need to succeed and live comfortably, in so much that others unintentionally get push to the wayside. As a result, the Word of the Lord points us in the right direction for all that we need: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33 (KJV)

When we selflessly give out of a pure and loving heart to others, the blessings of God will overshadow us in ways that can’t even imagine… Luke 6:38 states: “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”

I am old enough to have learned that the best blessings are intangible…sometimes a simple smile on a face-a true sincere smile that radiates with the peace of God can brighten a day and give someone hope along the way. As Christians we should be sharing the good news that leads to God’s amazing grace and mercy towards us all.

We must be consistent in prayer… rendering unto God prayers that lift those who are downtrodden, prayers that seek peace for the unrestful soul, prayers that send loving thoughts and comfort towards all men and most of all, prayers for strength to keep our hearts focused on the will of God. –“A godly friend is one who prays for you.” -unknown.

It is heart wrenching to watch the consistent flow of news that is broadcast of injustice, bias, and blatant disregard for the very lives of our fellowman. These acts of selfishness are definitely not from the love of God. The world gravitates to darkness; 2 timothy 3:2-4 states: For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;”

Many are blinded from the truth and are being led straight into the ditch… can the blind lead the blind? NO! Yet they readily follow into destruction. The following verse in Matthew 7:14 states: “Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” This is the gate – the only way that leads to salvation and true peace.

Those of us who have accepted Jesus Christ as our sovereign Lord will be held accountable for shining the light on this dark world. It is not okay to sit quiet to the underline plan of the enemy to try and destroy the lives of God’s loving creation of man. The Great Commission found in the gospels is a direct command for us to go out and spread the good news of God’s grace through Jesus Christ our Lord! “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:19.

So, let us first be committed to the study of God’s Word, seeking to be equipped in ministry; utilizing our personal platforms as a beacon of light; write, sing, protest, speak up or whatever it takes to be used for the glory of God… considering the welfare of our fellowman, striving every day to forget about ourselves and concentrate on others in this busy walk of life.

Jesus is still calling us today to feed my sheep; a call for every born-again believer to help, encourage and lift somebody just a little bit higher along the way. “And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:” –Hebrews 10:24.

Alma Bazel Androzzo, was a Black pianist, songwriter and lyricist who composed the famous “If I Can Help Somebody”,

If I Can Help Somebody

If I can help somebody as I pass along,

If I can cheer somebody with a word or song,

If I can show somebody he is trav’ling wrong,

Then my living shall not be in vain.

If I can do my duty as a Christian ought,

If I can bring back beauty to a world up-wrought,

If I can spread love’s message that the Master taught,

Then my living shall not be in vain.

May God help us to be extentsions of His love, joy, comfort, peace and unfailing love to someone along our way today!
