Count Your Blessings One by One!
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:” Psalm 103:2.
In the stillness of the night, a lonely tear rolls down the side of your cheek, things seem dismal and unclear, and suddenly, way deep down in your soul, the memory of how God lovingly delivered, kept, and carried you through circumstances that were far more catastrophic, and a still voice speaks to your heart that says this too shall pass! God is faithful, my friends. Let us remember to count our blessings one by one. “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:” Psalm 103:2.
Truly, God is good to us all; it is a landmine of the enemy to steal our peace and joy. When we constantly focus on the unfavorable circumstances we may encounter and on what we lack, we remain restless and forget how truly blessed we already are. God’s amazing grace has saved us and sustains us day by day. The Psalmist reminds us to give God thanks: “O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever.” Psalm 118:1.
The choice is ours every day. We can choose to be powerful or pitiful. The difference is that we either cling to a defeatist, woe-is-me attitude or we dwell on the goodness of God and all that He has done- and thank God, will do. We must resolve to walk in the power of the Holy Ghost, who strengthens us and reminds us of just how merciful and good God is! “Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;” Psalm 103:3-4.
Wherever we may find ourselves at this moment, God is right there, empowering, guiding, and providing for all that we need. Therefore, we can rest on His unfailing love and faithfulness, knowing that in times of trouble He will fulfill His promise never to leave us or forsake us, and to keep us forever!
My friends, let us praise God from the very depths of our souls, for He will place a new song in our hearts: “Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;” Psalm 30:11.
Someone has said, ” When praises go up, blessings come down.” So, every single day, let us count our blessings, one by one, and thank God for all that He has done!
When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
May we all rest in the peace, love, and joy of the Lord today!
