Do you find yourself yearning for more of the Lord, thirsting for your cup to be filled with His goodness and mercy? The greatest longing for the child of God is the soul’s desire for the Bread that comes only from Heaven. Our Lord Jesus Christ is the Bread of Life. He is the One who feeds us, fills us, and makes us whole! “I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst”. (KJV John 6:35) Hallelujah!

Our desire to be fed with spiritual food is beyond what the world can understand. It is the longing to draw nearer to God, to receive the joy, comfort, peace, wisdom, and saving power that come from the Word of God, the true Bread from Heaven, our Savior and Sovereign Lord, Jesus Christ. “But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” (KJV Matthew 4:4)

Let’s call to witness the Children of Israel, who found themselves with no water or food in the wilderness. God miraculously fed them with manna from Heaven. It was a small, round thing, a divine origin that came as frost. The Israelites had no name for it, so they called it “manna,” which means “what is it?’ God’s miracle of sufficiency provided not only for their physical thirst, but also for their souls. 

It was a lesson in faith 101, teaching them to depend on God! “And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the Lord hath given you to eat.’ Exodus 16:15.

My friends, God does the same for us today. He feeds the body and the soul with all that we need. Most importantly, He satisfies that hunger that runs deep in the soul; it’s like a fire burning inside, a yearning to draw nearer to God. “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.” (KJV James 4:8 ) 

When the Lord fills us, we truly experience the peace that surpasseth all understanding, trusting and depending on Him to provide all we need. And yes…He faithfully supplies day by day the spiritual food we need to keep the faith, weather the storms of life, and run on to see what the end will be! 

Are you asking God to fill you today? He is El Shaddai, the All-Sufficient One, God Almighty. He nurtures, provides, and sustains all His beloved children. He is enough in this life and in the life to come!

Finally, if you ask, He will supply!  Trust Him to fill your cup and overflow it with the Bread of Heaven and satisfy the spiritual yearning of your soul! “For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.”(KJV Psalm 107:9)
