Guaranteed Promises

Guaranteed Promises

“And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.” Acts 1:10-11

The legal term guarantor defines someone who guarantees a loan by pledging their assets as collateral; he/she adds the assurance and promises that the note will be paid in full. My friends, Jesus is our guarantor. He is the hope and assurance of every born-again believer; His shed blood, resurrection, and authority paid the price and sealed the promise of our eternal destiny now and forever. “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” John 10:28.

In the book of Acts chapter one, we find the account of Jesus’ ascension into heaven; that day on the Mount of Olives when Jesus ascended, the disciples were encouraged and assured of Jesus’ promise to return “And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.” Acts 1:10-11

I can imagine that they were still in amazement of Jesus’ miraculous appearances and innumerous acts shown to them over the past 40 days since His resurrection. So, they stood gazing, as in wonder and expectation of His next move…but the angels gave them immediate confirmation that all was well and that there was no need to stand there just hoping, wishing, the day or hour that Jesus would come back; they could rest assured that the Savior would appear again … He had faithfully promised, and He would return just as He said He would! “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” John 14:3.

My friends, God is not a man that He should lie; every promise that He has made then and now is sure; we have sixty-six books of the greatest love letter every written, and in it are innumerous promises for all His beloved children; are you waiting on a promise from the Lord today- never give up on God, His timing is not ours, but He will always come through right on time-it’s guaranteed- “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)” Hebrew 10:23. If God said it, that settles it! We can stand on His promises!

Standing on the promises I cannot fall,

List’ning ev’ry moment to the Spirit’s call,

Resting in my Savior as my all in all,

Standing on the promises of God.

God’s blessings of grace and peace be with us all.
