Is Your House in Order?

Is Your House in Order?

“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” John 14:3.

There are always times when someone pops up for an unexpected visit! If you had known in advance, you would have been ready and put everything in order at home. In our spiritual lives, we have a promise about an unexpected visitor. Death is not a stranger in this life, but its exact date and time are always unknown. “Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.” Matthew 25:13.

Tears shed at the passing of a loved one are only natural. But we have this comfort of the soul, Jesus’ words to His disciples, apply to every born-again believer. “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” John 14:3. Our hope and assurance are built on living in His presence forever!

Note that He did not say when, so what will you do while you wait? This uncertainty is not a problem for the saved, but for the unsaved. Those of us who are saved by the precious blood of the cruicified lamb of God know that to be absent from this body is to be present with the Lord. But to the unsaved, who have not accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, the question is, when will you put your spiritual house in order? Choose you this day whom ye will serve!

Death is inevitable, though it is not a topic we desire to linger on. It is true that the old will soon die, and the young may never get old. Some choose to believe that when we die, everything ceases to exist-so live it up now. . . that is the lie straight from the enemy.  It’s time to get your house in order, tomorrow, just maybe too late!

The most important decision in life is where you will spend eternity. God loves us and wants everyone to have everlasting life, and not perish. The good news is that Jesus paid it all on Calvary’s Cross, so that we can live eternally. “For the wages of sin are death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23.

Are you saved? Jesus is knocking at the door of your heart—let Him in! “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20.

God’s blessings of peace and strength be with us all.
