Just One Touch!

Just One Touch!

“And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.” Luke 8:46

Joy comes from truly knowing our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and the power of His resurrection. This peace gives us a deep sense of happiness, even when life feels chaotic. We trust that our all-powerful and all-knowing God is in control. There is real comfort in knowing we can bring all our worries to Jesus, and He will take care of us. As Psalm 46:1 says: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

Our physical bodies are only temporary. We can so readily see the overwhelming amount of sickness and death that plague the human condition throughout the entire world, but the word of the Lord gives us comfort in God’s faithfulness and power to heal and deliver. “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.” Psalm 34:19.

The account of the woman with the issue of blood in Luke chapter eight is evidence of those who honestly seek Jesus in faith; we can and will be healed according to His divine will. Luke 8:46-48 states: “And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.  And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.”

Imagine the crowd following Jesus, and this woman coming, just knowing that if she could press through and touch the hem of His garment, she would be made whole! She didn’t need to have an extended conversation with the Lord, or even for Him to see her…she just needed one touch of His garment! My Lord, what a great testimony to her faith in God; do we exhibit that kind of fervent faith today?

If we seek Him, we will find Him. No one else can do for us like Jesus; just one touch of His garment is able to release His power to heal us physically, mentally, and above all to heal our sin-sick souls. The songwriter stated it like this…He touched me, and now I am no longer the same. Praise be to God!

The virtue that flows from Jesus exceeds anything this world can imagine- in fact, it is everlasting. Ephesians 3:20 says, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,” My friends, the healing, peace and deliverance that God has in store for all His beloved children goes far beyond the physical and steps over into the spiritual realm where there is no end!

What is it that weighs heavily on your heart today- family, job, unforeseen debilitating illnesses, finances, and even the fear and anxiety of catastrophic occurrences? Call on the name of Jesus. Just one touch of His garment will bring all the healing, peace, and sustaining power that you need. “I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” Psalm 34:4.

“He Touched Me” is a familiar gospel song. In the 2nd stanza reads:

He touched me, O, He touched me,

And O, the joy that floods my soul.

Something happened, and now I know,

He touched me and made me whole.

The name of Jesus has the power to break every chain!
