Lead Me, Oh Lord!
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5
Have you ever tried to figure things out, only to realize you had it all wrong? You were so sure you had it right, but in reality, you did not have all the pieces to the puzzle. I am not sure about you, but I have to constantly rewind my thoughts and carefully focus on the leading of the Holy Spirit. The Word of God always guides us in what we should do or say at any given moment, as Proverbs 3:5 reminds us: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
In all our desires and undertakings concerning life, we must place our trust in God’s wisdom. It is in our obedience to release our cares and concerns to the Lord that we learn to trust in His omniscience and not rely on our thoughts and feelings.
It has been said that genuine faith perseveres, but emotional decisions do not. God promises to guide us with His divine counsel through this journey called life: “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.” Wisdom comes from God above—trust Him!
When the Israelites went into captivity in Babylon, you can imagine the thoughts and input coming from all sources of gloom and doom. Yet God sent word by the prophet Jeremiah that they should guard their minds: “For thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed.” Jeremiah 29:8.
Seventy years in captivity were quite daunting, but God already knew the plans He had to prosper and give His children a hope that far exceeded their greatest imaginations. My friends, we can fully rely on God to guide and keep us in perfect peace as well!
God is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore—trust in His promise that states: “For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.” Malachi 3:6.
We must also be vigilant and guard our minds from anxiety, doubt, false teaching, fear, or any other deterrent induced by the enemy of our souls. Instead, rest in the assurance that God sees and knows the way that we should go—His way is always best. “Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.” Proverbs 19:20.
So let us humble ourselves before the Lord, praying for His wisdom to make decisions and to understand the circumstances we face, while carefully remembering that all our help comes from the Lord!
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” James 1:5. May these be the words of our heartfelt prayers: Lead me, oh Lord, lead me!
Lead me, guide me along the way;
For if You lead me, I cannot stray;
Lord, let me walk each day with Thee.
Lead me, O Lord, lead me.
May God’s blessing of peace and love be with us all.
Yes I definitely need to be constantly lead by the Lord. Life is about making decisions…
Amen, my dear friend. He promised to lead us in the paths of righteousness! Have a phenomenal day in the Lord! Today’s message is entitled: “This Day.” May we cast all our cares and concerns on Him!
