Order My Steps!
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” Psalm 37:23.
The road we travel may not always be easy, but when God designs the highway, it is the safest place to be. My friends, God is doing something far greater in our lives than we can imagine. When we pray for Him to order our steps and use us for His glory, He is faithful and just to provide all that we need. “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” Psalm 37:23.
There are often times when we find ourselves wondering when God will come through with deliverance. But imagine being enslaved and oppressed for seventy years! That was the plight of the Israelites in Babylon. Yet God sent them a word through the prophet Jeremiah: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” God promised to prosper His beloved children in the midst of their captivity. He would still faithfully bring deliverance and return them to their homeland.
That timeline was certainly shocking, a hard pill to swallow, and definitely not what they wanted to hear! Just like the Israelites, we too want right-now deliverance when we’re struggling with circumstances beyond our control. And yes, God can step in and deliver us instantaneously if that is His will… but many times God is growing, stretching, and increasing our faith. That’s when the Holy Spirit whispers to us: “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9.
God will provide all the peace we need to endure these circumstances; we just need to wait and hold on. We can rely on God—He will deliver! Scripture reminds us: “Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.” Psalm 27:14.
My friends, even when the way may seem darkest, there is always a blessing on “the other side of through.” We are God’s workmanship; our lives are in His hands, and wherever He has us at this very moment is exactly where we are supposed to be. “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10.
So, if you or someone you know is being tossed and turned in the rafting boats of life, then take courage; this is only for a season. Everything moves by the power of God. Romans 8:28 reminds us that “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
We can rest in the peace of knowing that our steps are ordered by the Lord. He is faithful and true; in the final analysis, all things will work out for our good and His glory!
God’s blessings of peace and great mercy be with us all.
