“And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” Romans 8:27. 

The matters of our hearts seem to be simple enough; we really think we know ourselves, right? But the bible tells us in Jeremiah 17:9, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” As much as we think we know, we really do not know the deepest intent of our very own hearts! 

It is often said that there is good in the worst of us, and bad in the best of us. So, where do we turn to walk this journey of faith in humble submission to God? The Psalmist prays for relief from this seemingly personal dilemma. ^“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139:3-4.

My friends, God never leaves us guessing. Through the Prophet Jeremiah, God provides the answer: “I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.” Jeremiah 17:10. 

God in His omniscience is the only one who searches our hearts. He fully knows our inward thoughts, personal motives, misunderstandings, fears, and most importantly, our pleas for help. We can rest assured that He knows, He cares, and, best of all, He will guide us in the path of righteousness every time! “He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” Psalm 23:3.

Our hope and trust must lie in God, and when our hearts hunger and thirst for Him, He is faithful to guide us with His divine counsel. The Holy Spirit intercedes for us according to His divine will… “And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” Romans 8:27. 

So, because the Holy Spirit is continuously praying for us and is aligned with the Heavenly Father’s will, we can be comforted in knowing that even our deepest, unspoken needs are heard and answered by God!
