Sweet Peace

Sweet Peace

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7

Mental space is a psychological theory. It is the process of creating cognitive idealize models…yes; that is psychological jargon that simply means the thought processes that we allow to enter or exit our heads!

The less you let in the more mental space or clarity you possess and the same is true with the opposite. It is obvious that we are unable to think clearly when we are bombarded with overwhelming issues. But, the sweet peace of God, allows our minds to think clearly and see from a far greater perspective.

The Apostle Paul wrote of what constitutes a peaceful state of mind “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”  Transformed is to be changed, we have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit who empowers and guides us in the word of God. He is constantly renewing our minds from the cares of this world that can cause us to trip and fall on the wayside of life… but it is our job to listen and obey; we decide everyday what we will allow in our mental space.

There is nothing like the sweet peace of God when we let go of the concerns and heavy burdens that we encounter. That is why Jesus spoke these words that still reign true for all His children “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” Matthew 11:29. And Peter wrote these words “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” 1 Peter 5:7.

All the words in the world could never possibly explain what Jesus miraculously does to bring peace and unity in our souls; but I think of the Greek word eniokeito; when we let Him richly dwell within us. It is the idea of someone being at home, comfortable and having the run of the house without constriction!

So, what are you allowing to evade your mental space and peace today? Clear the clutter! Engage in daily prayer, meditation, and bible study; and finally, place it all at the feet of Jesus, He is able to give you sweet, wonderful peace! “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7

God’s blessings and peace be with you all.
