Tears of Joy

Tears of Joy

“For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” Psalms 30:5

Sometimes, having a good cry really helps us. People often see crying, especially for men, as a sign of weakness. We’ve all heard the phrase “crying like a baby,” but tears help us release stress, sadness, grief, anxiety, and frustration. We also cry tears of joy, like at a child’s birth, at weddings, at graduations, or when we feel relief after a hard time.

When we cry, our bodies release endorphins and other hormones that lower heart rate and blood pressure, relieving stress and pain.  God’s amazing grace promises us that our tears are only temporary! “For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” Psalms 30:5.

Just as in our physical bodies and emotional states, once the tears begin to flow, spiritual renewal of wholeness, that brings peace and comfort, ushers in God’s great joy! “They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.” Psalm 126:5.

God knows just how to comfort and restore our hearts back to peace and rest in Him. Regardless of what causes us to weep, we can be confident in God’s loving kindness and everlasting mercy.

During those times of grief, stress, and all other concerns of our hearts, the tears simply start flowing, and we are unable to control the emotions. But God gently wipes them away; the bible tells us that Jesus wept at the death of Lazarus; He knows the emotional pain that we feel, and He’s the lover and keeper of our souls.

Yes, we all have to cry sometimes, but thank God we can fall on our knees and tell God all about it! “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28.

So, if the tears are starting to flow, let go and  allow God to heal you spiritually and physically in the process. He hears the cries of His beloved children and covers us under His wings of love. “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1.

Hold on to God’s unchanging hands, my friends, His promises are always faithful and true; and one day when this present age that brings pain and suffering will be over, when all the saints of God are gather together at home… the book of Revelations gives comfort in these words: “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Revelations 21:4.

May God bless you all with peace, love, and joy!
