Testimony
“The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.” Psalm 145:9.
I am living proof of what the Lord has done!” is a line from the beautiful, heart-touching song entitled “Testimony,” featuring Cece Winans. I know with no shadow of doubt that I am truly a living testimony of what our Great and Almighty God can and will do in the lives of His children. As a thirty-year kidney transplant survivor, I know that I am a living, breathing, walking testimony! Still, the word of the Lord expresses my story the best: “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.” Psalm 23:6.
Trials and tribulations will come, my friends; where there is no test, there is no testimony. Even so, the Great Shepherd of the Sheep, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, promised that He would never leave us alone! Psalm 34:19 gives assurance to the faithful: “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.”
What about our story today? Are you a living, breathing, walking testimony? Are you willing to tell the world of the unfailing goodness, absolute protection, and faithful deliverance of the Lord? As children of the Most High God, we all have a testimony, and “The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.” Psalm 145:9.
Wherever God leads us on this journey called life, every day is a day of thanksgiving. In that spirit, our lives, as the Apostle Paul writes, should be “Living Epistles.” 2 Corinthians 3:2-4 states: “Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.”
What message was Paul conveying? He used the word “epistle,” meaning a written letter, as a metaphor. As born-again believers, our transformed lives are the ultimate proof of the Gospel. We are letters of recommendation to all who will receive the Savior of the world. Our stories are the proof of our Redeemer’s story; we live because Jesus lives with all power in Heaven and on earth! “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16.
So, what will you do with your story? Will you write it, shout it, sing it, or dance it? However God has gifted you, tell the story of His goodness, mercy, and deliverance in your life. Some sinking brother or sister needs you to throw out the lifeline, that they may live again!
God’s blessings and peace to all.
