Believe in His Promises

Believe in His Promises

“For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us” (2 Corinthians 1:20 KJV).

In life, we have all experienced promises that were either kept or broken. But I stopped to encourage someone today that where human strength fails, we have a sure hope in the promises of God- His promises fail not! “For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us” (2 Corinthians 1:20 KJV).

Whatever God has promised will be fulfilled because of who He is and always will be. The Lord God Almighty! As human beings who may change our minds, rearrange plans, or break promises, we can fully rely on God’s faithfulness. His Word stands firm and secure forever; and to it, our response should be “amen”—so be it. His promises never fail! “The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.” (Isaiah 40:8).

Knowing that the Lord God Almighty never changes brings comfort and peace to the weary soul who thinks God’s promises may never come to fruition. But the Word of the Lord gently reminds us that He never forgets His children; my friends, He’s got His eyes on you and is working behind the scenes… so wait on the Lord! “Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD”. (Psalm 27:14).

Consider God’s faithful servant Abraham, known as the father of faith. He believed in the promises of God. God promised him that He would be the father of many nations. This seemed like an impossible feat, seeing that he and his wife, Sarah, were past the age of having children. Sarah even secretly laughed at the idea-thinking it totally ironic at her age-oh my friends, do we often do the same?!

But what God promises, He fulfills! Sarah, barren and well past the age, brought forth the son of promise, Isaac. “And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.” (Genesis 17:6).

My friends, God is not a man that he should lie; what He has promised will come to pass in His time and in His own way. Our part is to trust and believe, waiting in faith, especially when our backs are against the wall, and we can’t see our way forward. It is then that we must stand still and see the salvation of the Lord!  “Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.” (1Corinthians 16:13).

God’s blessings and peace be with you!
