The Eyes of the Lord Are on You!

The Eyes of the Lord Are on You!

“The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.” Proverbs 15:3.

The Lord God Almighty is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. The prefix omni- is derived from the Latin word omnis, meaning “all,” “every,” or “everywhere”. These three words mean that God is all-powerful, omnipotent. He is all-knowing, omniscient. He is all-presence, omnipresent. Proverbs 15:3 states: “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.”

This reminds us that God knows everything and is always with us. When we truly understand that God sees all things and is everywhere, how does that change the way we live each day, treat others, and handle our responsibilities as His people?

Let’s consider the analogy of driving in your car at eighty-five miles per hour when the speed limit is seventy. You’ve decided to take the liberty and exceed the limit. Why? Obviously, if you don’t see the highway patrol or don’t receive a notice from your vehicle that a speed trap is ahead, you make the choice to break the law! Do those choices have consequences? Most certainly, for one, if the patrol sees you, clocks your speed, and stops you, you’ll get a hefty fine. Notice that the word “if” the patrol sees you plays a significant role. We all know that there is a fifty/fifty chance of getting caught.

Now, let’s connect this analogy to the Words of the Lord and to our daily walk, our character, the things we do, say, and are held accountable for in life by our Creator. How does it work for you to know that the eyes of the Lord are in EVERY place, every second, beholding the good and bad, my friends? “For mine eyes are upon all their ways: they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquity hid from mine eyes.” Jeremiah 16:17.

It appears that humanity’s sinful nature puts us at a disadvantage in this scenario; we’re imperfect beings born into sin. To the unsaved, those who walk in darkness and refuse to come to the marvelous light of salvation through Christ, the consequences of their actions are inevitable, and destruction is their end. “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.” 2 Corinthians 5:10.

But justice, mercy, and grace exist in the presence of our omnipotent and omnibenevolent God! “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20.

My friends, God is all-loving, good, and gracious, extending His grace to whoever will receive it. Through the new birth, our sins have been washed away by the precious blood of Jesus. Acceptance allows us to become new creatures in Christ, and with that new nature comes a new name; we become the sons of god. “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” John 1:12.

As born-again believers, we don’t walk this journey of life alone. Jesus sent us a Comforter, Helper, and Guide. The child of God’s “vehicle” has a speed-trap signal on board in the personage of the Holy Spirit. He warns us when we err, tells us what to believe, and reminds us of the Word that tells us how to live pleasing in God’s sight. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

God’s beloved children find it a blessing to know that God’s got His eyes on us! It gives us the sweet relief in knowing that He cares, and that through every trial, and tribulation, through every hiccup, He’s lovingly taking care of us every step of the way! “For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.” 1 Peter 3:12.

God’s blessings, peace, and grace be with you all.
