God Prepares the Way

God Prepares the Way

Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding and abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21.

If you are facing a difficult situation, I want to encourage you. No matter how dark the night seems, there is always hope in God. Even in our lowest moments, we can find reassurance in His promises. “Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.” Psalm 42:11. Remember, God is intentional; He has already prepared the way, even when we cannot see it.

One morning, I woke very early to a news broadcast about a woman in the hospital with heart failure. The commentator described how unlikely a transplant was, and noted even with a donor, survival during the pandemic on immunosuppressants would be difficult. Yet, in the very next segment, the woman herself recounted her experience: On March 25th, as she was about to eat breakfast, her doctor passed by and said, “Don’t eat that!” She immediately understood—a heart had been found, and she was about to head into surgery.

Hearing the heart transplant recipient’s testimony instantly took me back to October 20, 1996, when I was called to UF Shands in Gainesville for a kidney transplant. The very same God who blessed that woman also graciously gave and has sustained me for over twenty-nine years with my transplanted kidney. My friends, He is the same God who will provide whatever you need today. Don’t let the enormity of the circumstances overwhelm you—when God is involved, He always prepares the way! “Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding and abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21.

When I consider the insurmountable numbers of those without jobs—those in fear of losing their homes and unsure where the next meal will come from—my mind turns to the Word of God. There, His divine provision for Elijah was met by an obedient widow woman. Not only would God provide for Elijah during the famine, but He would also care for the woman and her household. Although her circumstances were dire and she was down to her last morsel, Elijah commanded her to prepare a cake for him first. She obeyed the word of God’s prophet. My friends, obedience always brings blessings. As the scripture states: “And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah.” I Kings 17:16.

Let’s remember that when life gets hard, God guides us and has already prepared the way for us. Trust Him!

May God’s peace, grace, and unconditional love be with you always, reminding you of His faithfulness and care, now and always.
