“(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)” 2 corinthians 5:7.

There was a young woman who, so the story goes, walked home alone each day. A young man desired to walk with her, but she refused each time. He felt rejected, especially since she walked alone. When he asked why she refused, she replied, “I am never alone.”

What a beautiful testimony of faith. Regardless of where this young woman went, she knew that the Lord was with her each step of the way. Are we so faithful to cling to the knowledge that no matter what comes or goes in our lives, we are never alone? The promises of God are faithful and true. He spoke these words to His disciples, and they are just as true for us now: “And, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:20b.

As we walk this journey of life, regardless of the twists and turns that we must take, let us remember the words of the old spiritual: “No, never alone – He promised never to leave me alone.” Our Comforter lives within and will keep us in perfect peace of mind and heart. During the darkest times along the way, the Lord carries us safely through. 

David expressed it with these comforting words to our souls: “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4.

Whether we are up on top of a mountain or way down deep in a valley, let us hold to God’s unchanging hands. His grace is sufficient! “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9.

My friends, we walk by faith, not by some whimsical thought or fancy, but by a proven faith in all that God has done in ages past and continues to do in our lives from the moment of our conception. 

I am a living, breathing, walking testimony to His amazing grace and keeping power. So today, as I travel along this journey of life, I am like the young woman: I will cling to the comforting knowledge that “I am never alone!” What about you? To God be the glory; we have come this far by faith, leaning on the Lord!

Trusting in his holy word.
He’s never failed us yet.

We’ve come this far by faith.
