A Good and Loving Father
“If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?” Matthew 7:11.
A loving and caring father will do whatever it takes to raise his children to the best of his ability. He often forgoes his own heart’s desires or needs to provide, protect, and see them prosper. He gives good things when they ask. Jesus asked the following questions about a father’s provisions for his children in Matthew Chapter 7: “Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks a fish, will he give him a serpent?” Matthew 7:9-10. Which one of us would give something harmful to our children when they cry out to us? I suffice it to say absolutely none!
Exactly what was the Lord teaching? The discourse was on asking and seeking God for the things that we need or desire. The Lord makes a stark contrast between us being human and inherently evil, out of a pure heart desiring to give temporal “good” gifts to our children, opposed to His love, omnipotence, and omniscience to give us all good things readily, or those things that are spiritual, eternal, and surpass anything that this world possesses, or our mere eyes see. God is our faithful promise-keeper! “If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?” Matthew 7:11.
This is a reassuring thought that can bring comfort and peace to our hearts. As God’s beloved children, we can rest assured that our Almighty, loving, and gracious Heavenly Father will supply all that we need. “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19.
God is good– period! So let us resolve never to lose hope and trust in His faithfulness; He will provide! “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21.
My friends, what are you praying for today? Is it health concerns, peace of mind, comfort of heart, strength to endure, open doors to employment, godly relationships? The list goes on; but I admonish you to fervently ask our good and loving Heavenly Father for whatever you need.
Come to His Throne of Grace as one who is a poor beggar, seeking as though you have lost your most valuable and precious jewel- and knocking so vehemently that the houseman must come to the door. Because that Great Shepherd of the Sheep, the Lord God Almighty, Our Father, hears the cries of all His beloved children, and He will answer! “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” 1Peter 5:7.
May God’s amazing grace and peace be with us all!
Thank You Father for your Grace, Love, Mercy, Protection, Provision, and Supply of all that we need to be a success according to your purpose for us in this life!! Grace, Grace!!🙏🏽💜
