Ask, Seek, and Knock

Ask, Seek, and Knock

“And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” (Luke 11:9).

Sometimes we find ourselves at a crossroads, unsure of which direction to take. In those moments, turning to God in prayer should be our first step. He promises to provide what we need. The Bible encourages us to ask, seek, and knock: “And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” (Luke 11:9).

God is omniscient and knows the concerns of our hearts. No matter if our needs are spiritual, mental, physical, or financial, He admonishes us to come boldly before His throne of grace- asking for whatever we need- “Give us this day, our daily bread.” (Matthew 6:11).

This requires faith in God. The Bible teaches that faith gives substance to what we hope for and makes the unseen real:“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1).

The account of the prophet Elisha praying for his servant’s eyes to be opened while they were surrounded by the king’s army gives us a glimpse of God’s ability to provide spiritual sight for what is impossible for our natural eyes to see.

“And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.” (2 Kings 6:17).

When we pray, we need to trust that God can and will provide what we ask for, as long as it fits with His will. “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6).

The important thing is to pray for God’s will to be done, not just our own. When we do this, we can be confident that He hears us and will answer: “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” (1 John 5:14-15).

My friends, God knows all our needs-and He has faithfully promised to provide for us.  Know that what He promises, He will fulfill; the value of any promise is as good as the promiser. Numbers 23:19 states, “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” God never fails; He makes good on every promise!

And most important, if, by chance, your crossroad is deciding whether to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, the message applies: He is calling you to open the door of your heart and let Him in… and He will come in and give you eternal life- let Him in! “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” (Revelation 3:20).

May God bless you and give you peace. Ask, seek, and knock—He will answer!
