God’s Graceful Assurance
“But he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
The term sufficient is defined as being enough or adequate. God lovingly provides His amazing grace and peace that surpasses all human logic…especially during times of unrest and in our greatest need; we have the assurance and faithful promise that God’s grace is sufficient to see us through the trials and tribulations of life.
The Apostle Paul writes about a “thorn in the flesh” that he inquired of God three times to remove. Yet God did not remove the trial but replied that His grace was sufficient: My friends, God’s grace, His unmerited favor, is an active, sustaining supply—not merely a passive consolation —but it is adequate power for the exact weight of the trials we face.
During times when the load gets heavy, and it surely will, may we also rest in the unshakeable promise of His word: “But he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
So, here are only a few assurances that I have settled in my heart, keeping me in perfect peace… enabling me to walk this journey of life with great joy and an unshakable reality that God’s grace is truly sufficient and His divine presence is right beside us through every single step of the way- I am sure you can add favorites of your own:
1. God is omniscient and knows everything there is to know about us. It is He who has formed us from our mother’s womb. Jeremiah 1:5 states: “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.”
2. He is omnipotent and sovereign; He can do all things. “For with God nothing shall be impossible.” (Luke 1: 37.) Today I choose to trust and rest in His loving care, and I will forever put my trust in Him. “The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.” (Nahum 1:7).
3. All glory and honor belong to God alone. “Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.” 1( Chronicles 29:11).
4. He has a divine plan for my life and guides me in the path of righteousness. “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.” (Psalm 37:23).
5. In times of trouble, I can run to the foot of the cross and find safety for my weary soul! “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1).
6. He is unchangeable. “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever.” (Hebrews 13:8). Praise God He is the same God who created the Heavens and the earth and breathed into man, and he became a living soul…He loves us now and forever!
6. He is omnipresent and oh my God…He will never leave me! Hebrews 13:5 admonishes us, “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee”.
7. My trust is anchored in God’s faithfulness and unfailing love now and forever! “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs (3:5-6).
My friends, God’s assurance is nestled within the sixty-six books of the greatest love letter ever written. Search the Scriptures, and find grace and comfort for your soul; surely we can rest in the knowledge that He is the Great I AM, the bountiful supplier of divine grace unto all His beloved children, now and forever.
Blessings and peace to all.
