Sweet Inner Peace!
““Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Isaiah 26:3.
Mental space is a psychological concept. It refers to the way we form ideas in our minds—in simple terms, it’s about the thoughts we choose to let in or out. When you allow fewer distractions in, you gain more mental space and clarity. The opposite is also true. It’s hard to think clearly when life feels overwhelming. But God’s sweet peace helps us clear our minds and see things from a higher perspective.
The Apostle Paul described what it means to have a peaceful mind: “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” To be transformed means to be changed. The Holy Spirit lives within us, guiding and strengthening us through God’s word. He constantly renews our minds, helping us let go of worries that can cause us to stumble and fall short of the blessings we have in Still, it’s up to us to listen, obey, and choose each day what we allow to affect our peace.
There is nothing like the sweet peace of God when we let go of the concerns and heavy burdens that we encounter. Jesus spoke these words that still ring true for all His beloved children: “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” Matthew 11:29.
We can’t fully explain how Jesus brings true inner peace to our souls. The Greek word eniokeito means to dwell deeply or to inhabit. It’s like inviting someone to feel completely at home at your place, free and comfortable. When we let go and let Jesus take full control within us, He takes charge and gives us a peace that even we cannot fully understand. “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7
