Thank You, Jesus!
“O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.” Psalm 107:1
In times of deliverance from unseen danger, or when our fervent prayers for needs that seem unattainable are answered, we often exclaim with heartfelt thanksgiving and great joy: thank you, Jesus! We give praise to God for bringing us through life’s circumstances once more. The psalmist exclaims, “O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.” Psalm 107:1.
It is the relief you feel when the doctor’s report comes back favorable, when you are accepted for that job interview, when food is provided on your table when there was none in sight the night before, or when shoes and clothing are miraculously provided for your children. God graciously provides for what we need. He is due praise, honor, and thanks at all times. James 1:17 tells us, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”
If you have been in Church long enough, you have heard these words prayed: “Lord, if I had a thousand tongues, I couldn’t thank you enough!” We cannot beat God’s giving, and His grace and mercy endure forever. There are not enough words in the human vocabulary to give God the praise and honor that He is due. Every breath we take comes from the Lord, and He promised that all that we encounter is working out our good. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28. He loves us and has only the best in store for our lives.
Jesus Christ, the Lord of all, atoned for the sins of this entire world, and there’s no longer a need to sacrifice the blood of animals for our sins. It was paid on Calvary’s cross one Friday afternoon by His shed blood; but we are to be living sacrifices unto God, ones of thanksgiving for His mercy and amazing grace, loving God and our fellow man. “By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.” Hebrews 13:15.
If you are a child of the Most High and living God, you should be shouting thank you, Jesus, just because of who He is. “O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.” Psalm 136:1.
Likewise, if you are reading this post, you are blessed among millions of people in this world today. God is good—give Him the glory and never let thanksgiving and praise for God cease from your lips!
So, wherever you are, and whatever mountain you have to climb…start thanking Jesus for the victory; it is already won. Blessings and peace—give God the glory today.
Thank you, Jesus!
