The Foundation Has Been Laid

The Foundation Has Been Laid

“Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.” Isaiah 28:16.

When constructing a building, a carpenter establishes a solid foundation that is carefully planned, laid, and tested to endure adverse conditions and the passage of time. Similarly, the Word of the Lord provides us with the spiritual foundation upon which all of God’s beloved children are built: Jesus Christ, God’s only Begotten Son and Savior of the World. “Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.” Isaiah 28:16.

Have you considered what foundation your life has been built on? God has laid the foundation; the spiritual choice is yours. Will you choose to follow Jesus in obedience? The evidence is seen throughout our lives- when your last chapter of this life is written, how will you stand before God? “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?” Romans 6:16.

In Matthew 7:24–27, Jesus presents a parable that contrasts a wise man, who hears His sayings and does them, and builds his house on a rock, with a foolish man, who also hears, but disobeys by building his house on sand. When the storms came, the house built on the rock remained, but the one on the sand fell to destruction.

Indeed, the storms of life are inevitable, and the winds will certainly blow vehemently. The question is, how are you weathering the storm? Are peace, love, hope, and faith guiding your walk? God has given us a competent soul. We all, whether saved or unsaved, have the capacity to understand His commands, the responsibility to obey, and ultimately receive the consequences.

“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.” Matthew 7:24-25.

A well-known gospel song called “Tomorrow” offers this warning: Jesus said, “Here I stand, Won’t you please let me in” And you said, “I will tomorrow” Jesus said, “I am He Who supplies all your needs” And you said, “I know, but tomorrow” But, tomorrow may as well just be too late. As you read this message, you still have a choice. Don’t let your tomorrow be too late. “And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.” Matthew 7:27.

My friends, Jesus is calling. Accept Him today and follow where He leads, embracing an abundant life of joy, peace, and love built upon the eternal foundation of God. “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20.

May the peace of God rest, rule, and guide in your life now and forever!
