United in Prayer

“These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.” Acts 1:14.

Prayer is our direct and intimate communication with God., it is not to be taken lightly or as some whimsical list of things to do. God is sovereign…He is “wholly other” meaning nothing and no one is likened unto God. The bible reminds us to stay in prayer. “Continue in prayer and watch in the same with thanksgiving;” Colossians 4:2. There is no other place greater to find peace than on our knees in prayer, that is when we stand tallest, there humbled at the foot of the cross where we can release all the cares and concerns of our hearts.

The apostles witnessed the ascension of Christ as He was taken up into heaven; His last commission was for them to stay in Jerusalem until the promise to the Holy Spirit would come. In obedience they returned to Jerusalem and assembled “These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.” Acts 1:14. They were not just in Jerusalem waiting, but they continued in prayer together, with great expectation… looking for the Lord’s promise of the Holy Spirit.

We too must be obedient and enter in prayer not only alone, but together. Prayer is one of our most vital weapons of spiritual warfare. “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;” Ephesian 6:18.

My friends there is strength in numbers; as dear sisters and brothers in Christ, we must uplift, encourage and intercede for one another; Paul prayed for the saints in Colossae “For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;” Note that he stated we did not cease to pray for you. . . there is power in prayer.

May we stay bound together in Christian love and steadfast in prayer, for truly God answers prayer!

May God grant us all peace, protection, and favor all throughout this day!
