New Mercies, Each Morning!
“It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23.
Pause for a moment and consider the crisp, cool air, the absence of noise, and the peaceful environment you hear in the early hours of the morning. Whether you step outside for a walk, run, or just sit in a favorite spot, you enjoy breathing in the fresh air and the calm, serene peace that it brings to start your day. In that quiet space, all of yesterday’s worries are out of mind and on hold as you face a new beginning!
Our spiritual life should excite our senses and mind even more; the Lord promises us that His mercies and compassion are ushered in new to us every morning. “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23.
God’s amazing grace gives us a fresh start every day. No matter what happened before—whether we failed or succeeded, or faced physical, mental, or spiritual struggles—His compassion never fails. He gives us hope, peace, and guidance for the day ahead.
Peace of mind and heart is something we can choose. We may wonder about the future, but only God truly knows and holds it. He is guiding everything around us. If yesterday was difficult, it is God’s compassion and mercy that kept things from being even harder. We can trust that we are not alone, and God will provide for all our needs. He is always with us and is working out the best plan for our lives. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28.
The truth is things do happen; we do not wake up every morning as some would say, cheery-eyed and bushy-tailed! But praise God, in those times of affliction, unrest, or pain, our hope is in the Lord. Romans 5:3-5 states “And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”
I admonish you to take a few moments and pull out your own personal witness this morning. Think back on the goodness of God and all that He has brought you safely through this far. As you do, His sweet peace will begin to flood your soul with the assurance that wherever you are and whatever is happening, God will take care of you!
My friends, today is a new beginning and a wonderful gift from God, filled with His unfailing mercy and the hope for His innumerable blessings. “This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24.
Let us stand steadfast in prayer, remain focused, and expect God to provide whatever we need for our journey ahead. We can depend on God as the scripture reminds us, “Great is thy Faithfulness!”
God’s blessings of hope, faith, and love be with us all.
