“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

As a former DCPS trainer for many years, I recall using several icebreakers that fostered trust within the team. One such activity was the trust fall. In this activity, a team member stands on a raised platform about 1 to 4 feet high, with his hands tied behind his back and a blindfold on his head. He then falls back into the arms of 12 or more teammates standing below, facing each other, with arms extended toward him. In other words, a bed of arms is formed for the teammate to trust. As he falls, he says, “I trust you guys, please take care of me.” 

It is not easy to wholeheartedly place our trust in others. The relationship must be tried, proven, and true. We naturally trust those who raised us and provided for all our needs when we were young. However, it takes time and experience to extend our trust to others outside that intimate circle of influence. Our Church has a youth group called the J-Dets; the motto of the group is…In God we trust, all others we check!

God has created us in His likeness; He has lovingly manifested Himself through a Holy team to provide all that we need for our past, present, and future in the personages of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. They are all tried, proven, and true. Scripture admonishes us in Proverbs 3:5-6 to “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” 

Every born-again believer must place trust in the Lord, not just anyone, but the One who loves us unconditionally and who gave His very life for us on the cross of Calvary. His amazing grace has secured our inheritance in Heaven. He is faithful and true, and His promises never fail. Therefore, we can wholeheartedly follow wherever He leads, trusting in His wisdom and resting in His loving protection and peace.

The Word of the Lord lovingly admonishes us in 1 Peter 5:7: “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” Let us take that trust fall today into the everlasting arms. He will take care of us now and forever. “As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.” 2 Samuel 22:3.
